Onsen do – Onsen Road in Beppu
I came across this stamp rally information while looking what to do in Matsuyama. While I am not an Onsen person (I have tattoos), I do wanted to take pictures and get stamps at Dogo Onsen. I found that Beppu has stamps (like many places.) BUT, they have thing called “Onsendo” or Onsen Road and when you visit each place, you can get a stamp!
The book is “Beppu Hatto”… but they have spaces for stamps! Recently you can use the book for Dogo Onsen (explained below).
Beppu Hatto is a collective name for eight hot spring areas (Hamawaki Onsen, Beppu Onsen, Kankaiji Onsen, Hotta Onsen, Myoban Onsen, Kannawa Onsen, Shibashi Onsen, and Kamegawa Onsen).
It is a rigorous but enjoyable hot spring training ( stamp rally ) for seekers who seek to understand the truth of hot springs (unrivaled hot spring lovers) and fully enjoy the hot springs, which is only possible in Beppu, the number one hot spring area in Japan, which boasts an abundance of hot springs and a variety of spring qualities .About 150 hot spring facilities from the many hot springs are participating in the Onsen Do, and after visiting 88 of them and soaking in the hot springs to relax both body and mind, you can collect commemorative stamps in a stamp book called a “Spa Port” and aim to reach the lofty heights of becoming an “Onsen Do Master.” One of the highlights of this training journey is that by talking and interacting with the local people along the way, you can learn about Beppu’s history, culture, and geography, as well as make irreplaceable friends who enjoy the hot springs.

Beppu and Dogo Onsen collaboration for Stamp Rally
I came across this stamp rally information while looking what to do in Matsuyama. While I am not an Onsen person (I have tattoos), I do wanted to take pictures and get stamps at Dogo Onsen.
I have also been to Beppu in the past, but I have not really go after any Onsen (and Beppu is one of those Onsen towns).
When I saw that both cities would have a collaboration stamp rally with their own stamp book, I thought that’s going to be cool!
As of this writing (April 2025), I will visit Ehime in a couple weeks. Also in October (2025), I will also be visiting Kyushu for a week. I will make my efforts to see Beppu again.

Like most stamp rallies in Japan. I don’t expect to get any certificate (usually done in a limited time frame), but I do want to have a few stamps!
Beppu and other Onsen places are known to have stamps… Here is a good article on that.
