Tetsuin Collecting

56 (updated 2024) Small railway companies have collectively started to have their own “red stamp” and book to collect.

This is really cool as it is something close to Goshuin for Shrines and Temples.

Listed below are the railway companies.

This is based on the article that Japan Rail Times written by Carissa Loh.

Everything I got was from that article and I’m just getting info from the links.

All trains depart and arrive at JR Hokkaido’s Hakodate Station.

Take a leisurely one-hour ride and enjoy the view of
Mt. Hakodate over the sea and the Tsugaru Straits.

Noto Railway

https://nototetsu.jp/

I have gotten a Tetsuin for Noto Railways to help rebuild after the earthquake in 2024. I was trying to go to Noto Peninsula itself during my trip in July 2024, but I did not have enough time as the station is very far.

Akechi Railway

*Ena station

Nagaragawa Railway

*Gujo Hachiman and Seki station

I was able to get this Tetsuin when I went to Gujo Hachiman. The staff is very friendly and the station has alot of local train items!

Tarumi Railway

https://tarumi-railway.com/

*Motosu station

This was a longer ride than I expected. When I got to Motosu station, 3 other passengers also lined up to get the Tetsuin. I was hoping (which did happen) that it would happen fast before the train would leave, or might have been another hour to wait.

I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to check out more due to the time restraint.

Friendly staff.

Tenryu Hamanko Railway

https://www.tenhama.co.jp/

*Tenryu station

I keep wanting to go here, but it is far. There is a railway museum and roundabout located near this station as well.

Aichi Loop Line

https://www.aikanrailway.co.jp/

*Shin-Toyota station, Yakusa station and Setoshi station

Originally, the only station that had Tetsuin was Shin Toyota station. When the Tokai region Tetsuin expanded, Yukusa station was added. Upon getting to Yukusa station, I was told that Setoshi station also had their own version. So I went there and got 3 of Aichi Loop Railway’s tetsuin.

Ise Railway

*Suzuka station

I’ve been planning to go here, but I keep running out of time to go.

Shigaraki Railway

https://koka-skr.co.jp/

https://koka-skr.co.jp/

I missed on getting on my July 2024 trip. I was in Koka, but I went to check out the Ninja Museum and the walk took a lot of my time.

By the time I would get the SKR’s terminal station, the shop would be closed.

Kyoto Tango Railway

https://trains.willer.co.jp/

This station is also very far. Atleast it is at Amanohashidate, so you can also go exploring the land bridge and the viewland spots.

Hojo Railway

http://www.hojorailway.jp/

*Hojomachi station

I have missed 3 opportunities to get the Hojo Tetsuin. I feel I have to do this with other railways that offer Tetsuin, so that it is a day of getting these.

Wakasa Railway

https://wakatetsu.co.jp/

*Wakasa station

Wakasa Railway’s terminal station is in the middle of Tottori prefecture.  Wakasa Railway not only has Tetsuin, but also Toritetsu (Tottori Railway train seals) which Wakasa Railway will have their own book with 9 Seals (from 9 different stations).

Chizu Express

https://www.chizukyu.co.jp/

*Chizu station

Like Wakasa Railway, I have planned to do Chizu Express on the same day of train riding.

Ibara Railway

https://www.ibara-railway.co.jp/

*Ibara station

I plan go to Ibara station along with the previous 3 railways (Wakasa, Hojo and Chizu) in one day. Just sacrifice the day to ride all trains. Unfortunately, I always seem to run out of time when I could get this one.

Nishikigawa Railway

http://nishikigawa.com/

*Nishikicho Station

My experience with Nishikigawa railway was that the schedule is infrequent. I think like once an hour.

This was in 2017 and before Tetsuin was introduced.

Asa Kaigan Railway

http://www.asatetu.com

*Shishikui Station

Asa Kaigan Railway is a small railway line that is in Tokushima and Kochi prefecture.

Since the end stations at the end of Tokushima were not busy, Asa Kaigan Railway took over.

Asa Kaigan Railway also has the only land and water vehicles. They are called “DMV – Dual Mode vehicles”.

This railway is really far since it is in the rural part of Shikoku Island.

Tosa Kuroshio Railway

https://www.tosakuro.com/

*Nakamura Station, Aki Station

Another railway deep in Kochi is Tosa Kuroshio. I wanted to try and get this Tetsuin, but I needed more time in Shikoku to explore Kochi.

Heisei Chikuho Railway

http://www.heichiku.net

*Kanada Station

One of the Kyushu companies. From what I read, Kanada Station is unmanned, but you can get the Tetsuin from a machine there.
