It was in 2018 we visited and went to Joffre Lake (there is a total of 3). Joffre Lake is about 2 hours north of Vancouver near Pemberton. We had my parents in law and our kids were smaller during that trip and so we only went to Lower Lake. It was pretty cool to see, but the spot that the trail leads you too is super crowded. W

e thought about going to Middle Lake, but was told it was quite the distance. With the kids and parents in law, we opted to go another time.

2022 – Pandemic has changed how some parks are visited nowadays. Joffre Lake parking area was always busy, but this time, before you can even go, you have to go online and reserve the spot (with receipt as well). When you get there, you have to present this to the park rangers in the parking lot.

After parking, we ate some food and started to get all the insect repellent on (this is a must as black flies are quick to bite and leave you itching).

We had a good amount of us that were going to hike, but then my sister in law, Ellen and Jasmin decided to stay behind because they weren’t feeling good. Lucas and Isaiah (the younger of the boys) would also stay while Ate Joan, Robert, Fort, Jacob and myself trek to Middle Lake.

After a grueling 2hr hike, we reached Middle Lake and it was amazing!!!

After taking a few pictures on the “Instagram log”, we decided to get in the water. It was deceptively inviting as that water was FREEZING. I felt my legs get numb when I slipped in ( I was trying to take it easy, but the moss on the log showed me otherwise! LOL).

We then decided to go to where you come out of the trail and see the lake. There was a small “beach like” area that was more open to people going into the water. So we got undressed and jumped in… and it was almost hypothermia. I can feel my body INTERNALLY GETTING WARM.

Ate Joan took the picture, which was great. At the time, I was saying I was gonna freeze to death lol.

We then started to walk back down the trail.. and then I hear Lucas’s voice! Jasmin, Ate Ellen, Isaiah and Lucas had made it!!

We then all trekked back down to the cars and headed home. It was definitely worth it. There is a Upper lake, but we were tired.
