Before Traveling to Canada 2021

  • First and foremost, You have to be vaccinated
  • Download the ArriveCAN and Canadian Covid19 apps
  • Day 1 and Day 8 swab testing
  • Have a quarantine plan

August 9th 2021, Canadian borders open to US citizens

The run down.

I personally feel that if you are going to travel internationally, to a foreign country, these types of experiences are gonna happen.

Getting vaccinated and having proof of it. While I did have a hard copy, I also got a digital copy from California. Showing you are vaccinated makes you exempt from a 14 day quarantine (with daily and random check ups).

Before you even arrive in Canada, they want a Nasal swab test with negative result and accredited lab information. You have 72hr window to use those results.

Once you across are in Canadian territory, you will be chosen to be swabbed or given a swab kit to take home. I was told I could wait 40 mins to get swabbed or I can take home the kit and do it myself, I wish I just waited!!!

The home kit, you have to register it (lifelabs.com) and fill out paperwork. Then you have to book an appointment to talk to someone. Your computer will need audio, camera and Microsoft teams. They will send a link and you click that link. Someone will start to chat with you and go over everything. Then they watch you swab. Afterwards, You call FedEx to pick up or drop off at a lifelabs location (which I did).

Then flying out of Canada and going back to the US, I needed another swab. Unfortunately, I had to find/pay for a same day results swab because I couldn’t wait the “2-5” day results.

That same day results was $400 CND!!!! This is for FLYING back to the US. If you are driving, no need for a swab to enter US.

Since I work in the medical field, I will also swab for my work (which we use color.com).
