I had a 6hr layover from Narita airport to New Chitose airport in Sapporo (which I missed by 10mins). During that time, I decided to go to Chiba to start my stamp quest for All Japan Towers + get eki stamps for Chiba Urban Monorail and ride it as well.

I took the train to Chiba station, then jumped on the Chiba Monorail to Chibaminato station.

From there it was a good 20-25 minute walk to Chiba Port Tower.

Once inside, I got the All Japan Towers stamp book and my 1st stamp.

I would head back to Narita airport and get ready for my flight to Sapporo. I was a few minutes late after 4:30 (but flight wasn’t leaving until 5pm). This was the 1st time I missed my flight.

Initially, I was suppose to get on the next flight at 4am the next day, but in the evening, I got a text saying the flight has been cancelled due to weather.

There wouldn’t be a definitive time for the next available flight. I decided to forgo Sapporo (I was looking so forward to going there). I had to start planning to stay the night at the airport and what my plan was for the next couple of days.

Before I would retire for the night, I made a quick trip to Narita city (like 10mins away on the train) and got some eki stamps. It was late, so I couldn’t stop by any temples or shrines.

I ended up staying the night in terminal 1 and next morning, started my JR Pass 2 days ahead of time so I could navigate Tokyo and then Nagoya.

Arrival in Japan and staying the night at Narita Airport
