Eki stamps or station stamps

Stamps

Japan (and other countries) have railway companies that offer stamps at many of their stations. There are also other various stamps such as memorial stamps at tourist locations or stores. I have somewhat consider them pretty much the same. There are also limited time stamp rallies to celebrate an event.

I’ve seen eki stamps, but never put any energy into them. Just like most that don’t really pay attention, I would stamp a piece of paper and that would be it.

Since last year (2023), I was thinking on how I could make my trips even more interesting and I came across videos and people that were into stamps. Now this is more of the ink stamps vs postal stamps. Japan has stamps in a lot of places and after seeing people having a stamp book, I decided to do the same. 

It is true, these stamps give you an additional layer of saying you were at this station or I was on this train. It was an great experience doing this. I also mixed it with other stamps such as memorial or commemorative stamps I found in other places.
